Joana Castañeda was born and raised in Los Angeles CA. She attended Virgil Middle School and was expected to attend Belmont High but opted for North Hollywood High School instead. Joana was part of the ABLE (Acquiring Bilingual Leaders in Education) academy where one of the classes involved walking to the local elementary school and tutor K-3rd grade students. At NHHS she joined Student Government and was co-founder of “The Voice” a school newsletter. She also joined the Blue Ribbon Committee (BRC) where she was a peer counselor. After graduating NHHS, Joana attended Glendale Community College and transferred to National University where she is pursuing a Mathematics Degree along with her teaching credential.
Joana always was a homebody but recently discovered that she enjoys the outdoors. She likes going fishing (catch and release). Summers are all about bonfires, lake / beach days, and BBQs with friends and family. Joana also likes road trips and enjoys visiting family in Mexico and Northern California. She has always wanted to travel to Spain but so far has not had the opportunity to do so. Hopefully soon!
