Foreign Languages and Clubs February 2020




Spanish (taught by Mrs. Flores):

  • In Spanish 1 Native- students are learning the general rules of writing accent marks on Spanish words through constant practice and the use of short stories. 

  • In Spanish 2 Native- students are continuing to understand and use diptongs, triptongs and Hiato to place accent marks in words.

  • Spanish 1 Non- Native- students are learning how to describe themselves and others using Spanish adjectives using all modes of language (reading, writing, listening and speaking). In addition, students are learning how to conjugate infinitive verbs ending in (-ar, -er, and -ir) to write simple sentences in Spanish.

  • Spanish 2 Non-Native, students are starting their 3rd unit, how to describe their community using new vocabulary through the four language modes: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. In addition, students will learn how to conjugate verbs in the preterite form (past tense) to describe actions completed in the past.


Students Run LA (co-sponsored by Mr. Canek and Ms. O'Brien): The Los Angeles Marathon is fast approaching! In order to prepare, students will be running an 18 mile race on February 8, 2020 at Hansen Dam. Come cheer on Global Studies SRLA students Victor Espiritu, Jose Rendon, Krist Hernandez, Brandon Rojop, Marcos Lara, Juana Pascual, Gina Solares and Sandra Paxtor at the marathon! See the librarian Mr. Rowe to get some community service hours and support our SRLA runners on March 8th.
