Objective. Political Studies (A) is a class that combines English and economics. You will see the classes listed as “economics” and “expository composition” in Schoology. However, we will be completing all of our assignments in the “economics” class only. I will copy the grades over to the other class later. The purpose of the class is to develop the reading, writing, speaking skills necessary to make political and economic change in your community. These skills will also support your journey to college and a career.
Adapting to Distance Learning. 12 grade Political Studies has earned a reputation for being a rigorous and relevant class that dives deep into current events and pushes students to develop powerful skills for social change. Though we are facing unprecedented challenges from the coronavirus, I do not intend to dumb-down this curriculum. Instead, I will take steps to make it more accessible and flexible to your needs. For example, I will focus on individual grades and assignments instead of group tasks. However, we will continue to work on relevant group projects because that is what we need at this time: UNITY. Now more than ever, we need classes that bring us together, strengthen our collaboration skills, and apply our learning to real-life issues.
