Global Studies 10 (ELA 10 & World History)

Course Description

Why does this class matter?

Global Studies 10 is a year-long interdisciplinary course that explores the role of being an “upstander” and an agent of change in our world.  We combine World History and 10th Grade English Language Arts to navigate major historical events that have shaped the modern world and encourage you to think critically while doing so. The course invites you to ask a number of challenging philosophical questions, such as:  Who writes history?  What is our role in it? What is our responsibility towards others? And, what does history teach us about ourselves?  Through project-based learning, you will deepen your communication skills as writers, thinkers, readers, researchers, and speakers. You will practice forming an argument and substantiating your claims with evidence. Our hope is that you leave this class better able to identify societal injustice and be a champion for positive change and, ultimately, a global leader.
