Class Overview:
Welcome to Physics in the Universe: Distance Learning Edition! This class focuses on motion and energy and what it can tell us about how things work in our world. You will gain a greater understanding of the role physics (through electricity and magnetism) plays in our existence.
Class Model:
In this class, we will be using a Flipped Classroom Model. This is different than the traditional teaching model.
I believe this model will be helpful for the students at Global Studies, but it will take some getting used to for both you all and me. Please remain patient and be prepared to teach yourself a lot at home from here on out.
In addition, I will now be using a system of learning and grading called Mastery Based Learning and Grading. It is a system that has a stronger emphasis on mastering certain learning targets and skills by getting specific observations and feedback and getting multiple chances before moving on to the next target. The grade is exclusively based on demonstrating mastery of the subject matter learning targets and skills and as a result, several of the learning outcomes that you are accustomed to will be absent from this class. This is new for me, so again, please remain patient while we learn this together.
