The Los Angeles School of Global Studies At Miguel Contreras Learning Complex

Student Leadership

Course Description

Leadership is an elective that provides students an opportunity to create a school that best serves them. It puts students in the “leadership” role of our school, giving them choice and agency in what they want to see out of their high school years. Students in leadership will hone their skills of advocacy, organization, collaboration, planning, responsibility, and time management as they engage with each other to build school culture. In previous years, Leadership has been responsible for assemblies, hallway decorations, advisory competitions, fundraising, school dances, and senior events, to name a few. Yet, given this new format of distance learning, we will have to be extra creative in how we approach building school culture this year. I therefore ask that students in Leadership rise to the challenge of being innovative in how we bridge this digital divide to still create the school worthy of our high school years. Look forward to school news shows, birthday parties, virtual assemblies, and virtual challenges. We are only in high school once so how can we ensure the best years yet? Leadership has you covered!
