My name is Christian Quintero, I am the principal of The Los Angeles School of Global Studies. We opened up 11 years ago as a project-based learning school and so all of our instruction is either through project-based learning or problem-based learning. What that means is that our students are given real-world tasks real-world problems and they have to try to find solutions to those problems working in teams and working with the technology and resources that we have available our uniqueness comes with using technology, using resources to funnel through all of that information and create really strong arguments for what education really needs to be I see our students as individuals, so it's not a group, a class and everybody's learning different things within the same context of one project and that gives them the opportunity to grow. When we see ourselves unique, it's because we see our students as unique, to be able to to give into whatever products that we give them.  Because of the size of Global Studies, you get to meet teachers at a personal level. I've gotten a lot of support through staff members and teachers. I love that about the school because they've seen me go from this immature little girl to a leader in my community and in school. I have been able to become more actively involved in my community because of Global Studies. Basically, without the teachers that have guided me along the way, I wouldn't be where I am today I have also been able to challenge myself academically as well by taking the college courses available here and by going to the Los Angeles City College on my own. We've become a real family here at Global Studies. Sometimes connections at home aren't strong. Sometimes connections in the community aren't strong They come here to a safe environment.  They come here to a connection they have with friends and with adults here to help them kind of find their potential and find what paths they want to take Los Angeles School of Global Studies is creating Global Citizens ready for college and careers
