For the first time ever, Global Studies produced its first every virtual graduation. Come celebrate and support the student of the Class of 2020.

Welcome to the 2020 Los Angeles Global Studies virtual graduation my name is Kimberly Saavedra. I am the senior class president and I'll be the master of ceremony for this graduation.  It has been a long four years but we are ready to move onto the next chapter in our life.

To the teachers who took the time to share their knowledge with us, for having the patience to repeat the information when we weren't paying attention but providing office hours at our school even though they were tired but especially for seeing potential when we couldn't see it in myself.

To our Parents for supporting us for the past thirteen years we know we can be a pain at times. You spent Fireside you were there security complaints how are they went help us with have you had food at the table these aren't half of the things you did for us to support advisory teacher Justice Fireside encouraged us to join club sports you helped us by providing us with safe place for us to talk about the challenges we were facing to help us with our homework or Sakura complains about school we thank you asking a counselor thank you for keeping us on trying to get to this day for providing us opportunities and for being a support system we all started high school as children as adults some of us will be going to college right away While others are going straight into the workforce but we all have our own path no matter what we do we will be facing challenges with your head held up high these past four years were filled with memories created by either simply sewing the antenna in the fan these memories with Raiden when we expected them to even though we are all different people have different life you would cherish these moments as a send you the school of global studies class of 2020 those are amazing counselor Miss A N contract is the type of person who pushes though she cares about and try to provide them with opportunities so they could excel in life everyone for her and her pushing and see my potential Iowa thank you Miss contact from the bottom of my cart class of 2028 year full of challenges challenges that help build strength determination courage and perseverance and evening bro however some of you sore While others Hang On by their fingertips today made it you are the class of 2020 congratulations of 2020 challenges differently if you some of you and vigor and take and have the Zeal to take every opportunity available Rebecca you are strong and capable never forget that some challenges with determination and Power and never letting the world get them down last week I can't wait to see how you change the world don't take on challenges week 2 that's you Leslie by hard work and they look to get back to Future Generations Tanya and Kimberly you are the educators of the future Nathan you have taken this challenging semester and prove to yourself that you are a globe Ambassador ready for college I remember you as an introverted freshman and you have grown into a confident young man ready for the challenges of life John Gomes hurt to challenge yourself and to take your own path I admire your desire to serve in the Marines you took that from your classmates about wanting to be a nurse but you stayed so you can be whatever you were others just persevered through all their challenges they face throughout High School Neri from day one you have worked full-time and showed up everyday to school you continue education and cap movie today your high school graduation congratulations on the time to help others Larry Gonzalez and Larry start it slow but you have finished strong this year that is why LAUSD has decided to give you the perseverance award congratulations you have worked through a very chapped this stupid like so many others asked me what do I need for a bump that's what he wants he wants to deploy I said you need to bring me at the in geometry consistently on Edgenuity he got to see what I hope Jose learn and so many others discover is that they are capable play so much more than they know Summer Challenge to keep moving when they get knocked down both emotionally and physically whether on offense or defense celebrated hard implant so class of 2020 I leave you with this as you go into the world of college or military or the workforce it's a quote from Marianne Every Chain is a challenge to become who you are congratulations class of 2020 this year first grade school we have for valedictorian these students are tied for the top ranking at our school it is my privilege to introduce Lizette Castillo good morning in class of 2022 set Castillo in this speech is to think all of you who have helped me grow over the past four years first of all I want to thank God for giving me the strength through High School cute gusta features and Friends mr. Lu you believe in me since the first day I walked into your class military thank you for those south of consolation and advice which I will take with me how much you care about me through these past years through the Elias vs Mentor program at my mentor because my parents could not remember why they meant or what and I love how it sounds so I went along with it thank you for the support time and guidance you have brought into my life last but not least thank you to my parents and family or racing me Mexican for teaching me what school does not Beach from how to tie a shoe short as well as being honest and resilience always caring and giving me the best of themselves Domino's importante gracias Familia Claremont McKenna differently. Christmas angels for years for these graduation to happen but I never imagined it was going to be this way this Global pandemic which carried away hope of senior year 20/20 we wanted an unforgettable and unique graduation but not too much to be honest pictures of imagine myself or seifman as a future valedictorian I just work hard and sacrificed tongue friends Halsey forgive the mess of myself during the week I dedicated most of my time to school starting complaining assignment and homework where can I see Server in a Mexican and these two responsibilities has a purpose in my life my job told me to be tolerant with others and recognize the type of job I don't want to have my whole life don't get me wrong he's an honest job and I learned a lot from him but if I have the opportunity to choose a job that I like I'm willing to take it education or permit that opportunity Scituate High remind you the class of 2022 be dedicated make the sacrifice you need to be successful and work hard because it will pay off tomorrow thank you with great admiration here lady Cruise Chinese teachers and everyone who is here supporting all of us graduates thank you for being supportive Community my name is Lady cruise and I am your student president and your 2020 valedictorian I am honored to be here I know that this pandemic was an expected and we missed on many events this semester class we show that we are strong and ready to overcome whatever heads our way we have had multiple challenges this year I'm trying to memorize the Bill of Rights to feser unit test for a political class thank you mr. homes for most of her spring semester so the uprising we are seeing in the streets against police brutality but when we look back thanks to those challenges we are better versions of ourselves today we are more than aware of the rights we have as human beings we know we must continue and fight for our rights as members of our Global community we are soon to transition to adult life and it is going to be hard but remember the word heart and impossible are not the same our new journey is going to be like a roller coaster we will be scared when going down but asked if we will come back even stronger we will encounter many twists and turns in our lives sometimes feeling like we are going to fall or even see the world upside down but in the end we will get off the right with last enjoy because we will know we experience a life full of emotions but we held on tight and enjoy that right I want to thank both of my parents be there fruit Fullerton and as I love you both and appreciate how you made our home calm in the face of all challenges that impact your community I also want to thank everyone who supported me throughout my life because if it weren't for all of you I will have not become the person I am today a proud Chicana that I seen I supposed to last class of 22 thank you for making me smile and forgetting me really full after the bonfire and for all the awesome memories we had together cinnamon by so fast they still came to these them few minutes you are no longer be considered a high school student I wish you all the best congratulations class of 2020 we did it seniors congratulations on reaching this important Milestone it has been an honor working with you all this year but you started so smoothly and then out of nowhere it seemed like we were bombarded by a sea of change and uncertainty truly we have faced many challenges together but it made all of the chaos I've been impressed by resilience camaraderie strength the sun is now Rising on a new and exciting chapter of your life and as you venture out on this new journey I want to leave you with three pieces of advice first care for the routes that connected to your culture and your community remember who you are and where you come from because there is power in that kind of groundedness 2nd stay open-minded and fiercely critical question your assumptions learn to empathize with other and always assess The credibility of your sources never doubt that you have the knowledge power and the right to transfer my world the future is truly yours congratulations on all of your compass and I wish you the best in all of your future endeavors and remember that we are always here to support you deer sausage the last four years I've gone to watch Define young adult you become I've also known as you along the way and ask you to always think critically and always ask the tough questions as you move forward with your life never stop asking why never stop asking the tough question always time for everything weed plant for your success and if you should falter and find yourself in times of need. worked very hard to get to this point but instead 4 years of Our Lives led to almost 4 months in our homes I understand that there are other things such as our health and safety that we should be worrying about but we work hard for this evening a celebrating the end of this chapter by walking across the stage but what can I say besides all the odds we still managed to graduate congratulations there will be other happy celebrations for us in the future I'm so thankful to be honoured as a valedictorian because even though we're in the middle of a world pandemic in a systematic Rachel fight for justice will let me forget how hard are to feel it pride my transcript prove I'm a student who has done well but my hope is to show the person behind the great the young woman who is proud of her work and fiercely proud of the person she had made herself to be a person who seeks every opportunity to improve herself and continue to stay positive and self-motivated even though times are tough like Helen Keller once said although the world is full of suffering it is also full of the overcoming of it the class of 2020 will definitely go in the book but it doesn't stop there now it's time for RJ Croatian to look back and reflect and be the change that we want to see in our future I'm very proud to say that I will be attending Brandeis University in Massachusetts this fault majoring in neuroscience and Environmental Studies every single person who has encouraged and supported me through this journey the teachers and staff my foster mom my family and my friends without your advice and valuable lessons from the bottom of my heart thank you it is my pleasure to introduce Leslie's Ramen my name is Leslie azucena harmonica. at the theme of the 4th of the class of 2020 Victorian different but it's never too late if you haven't spoken to someone if teachers our hard work dedication determination and commitment graduation isn't defined by a cap and gown the next step in life Innovative practices and of course your patience has helped supported our students through their four years at our school I want to recognize in particular you're seeing your teachers and advisory teachers for supporting me through the process of building Community helping you with your Civic Action project development and supporting the first year ever we had our dispense to remote learning I want to make a special mention to wear academic counselor Diane cantech who's been with you for your for your journey from internships to work permits to your academic progress she has helped you build your academic and Professional Network thank you Diane the parents and Guardians of the students of the class of 2020 you were there for teachers you offered Your Love unconditional you provided to provide a framework for our students to use their critical thinking skills to build awareness around issues of Injustice their designs have brought attention around human trafficking creating a pathway for parent involvement fighting income inequality through government policy and action and building awareness of gentrification of our communities their critique of media allows them to understand deep house to 2 6 images and point of you can paint a biased picture of the society we represent their use of social media as give them access to local National and go conversations around controversial issues I am proud and excited to see you will step into the next phase of your life and use the skills you've acquired here at Global Studies 2 the world a better place for future Generations in 4 years when you come back to Global Studies at the University graduates I want to hear the answer to this question what problems do you want to solve in the world this may seem like a tall order but I know that all of you can and will make your voice as her and continue to advocate for those who have no voice in our society I want you to remember the various networks that help support you in your success especially when things get tough outside of these four walls weather is calling your parents for encouragement for chatting with your friends to assure yourself you're moving in the right direction or tapping into your Global Studies Network whenever you need some additional supports use your networks to create your accessible path I want you to know that our doors remain open for you I will end you will forever be part of the global studies family please remember to always keep in touch with your Global Studies Network we're here for you to serve and support who have in a 3.75 GPA or higher the gold cords are for high honor word they represent students who have achieved five higher the silver courts are the honor cord for students who have a GPA of 3.0 to 3.49 the bus passes are for the National Honor Society students who have completed to go with are hired as well as a minimum of 25 community service hours for serving our Global Studies Community for a minimum of 4 semester we have a black and teal Ford ever presented individuals that despite the challenges showed resilience to prepare a defense 14 of our students has showcase why they are ready
